Dr. Pierluigi Balice


Biography

Dr. Pierluigi Balice earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bari, Italy, his country of origin.

Dr. Balice completed his three-year specialty training at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he received a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree.

Dr. Balice is a Board Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon, a certification that denotes someone who has made achievements beyond the mandatory education of the specialty, including mastery in the field of periodontics and dental implants.

Before specializing, he practiced general dentistry in Italy and London, UK. He also attended the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and the University of British Columbia, Canada, for internships.

Dr. Balice served as a full-time Clinical Professor in the department of Periodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He directed the predoctoral periodontics course and taught periodontics and implant dentistry to the residents in the Advanced Education Program. He also obtained a second DDS degree in the same University making him dual licensed in the US and Europe.

Currently Dr. Balice is a Clinical Faculty and Lecturer in the Advanced Education Program, Division of Periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In this role, he lectures on topics related to periodontics and dental Implants and trains Harvard residents in advanced surgical procedures.

Dr. Balice is also a lecturer in the International Implant Program at the New York University College of Dentistry, teaching international dentists the mastery of dental implants.

Dr. Balice lectures nationally and internationally. He is an author of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and author of book chapters in the treatment of peri-implantitis disease and dental implants biomechanics. He serves as a member in several dental organizations in the US and Europe.

Outside of work, Dr. Balice enjoys playing soccer, traveling, trying good cuisine and going outdoors. His primary goal is to provide the highest quality of care for his patients.

He is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.
